CNN Looks to Hire Hundreds for New Streaming Service

CNN has watched its cable news audience dwindle and it appears that they think now it is time they might want to look into a streaming channel.

FTVLive cut the cord 6+ years ago and we rely on streaming for all of our TV watching.

Fox, NBC, Disney, and CBS with CBSN have all launched streaming channels, along with a number of other media outlets.

CNN has finally decided to join them and according to the Poynter’s Al Tompkins, the network is desperate to find Journalists.

CNN recruiter Ramon Escobar tells Tompkins, “We are trying to hire 200 journalists,” he told me. “We need everything, from top management to executive producers, producers, editors, reporters, you name it.”

CNN has basically packed their cable news channel with opinion hosts and talking heads. Now, they say they are looking to hire real Journalists.

The streaming channel at CNN is set to launch early next year.

Escobar promises that CNN’s streaming service will be different than the others. “Imagine that we have someone representing the Afghan government. We see an opportunity to directly connect the newsmakers to the audience. It is like a town meeting but in a streaming setting. If you are a subscriber of CNN+, you could participate in what could be an interaction with the ambassador to the UN about Afghanistan,” he said. “Everyone in the news industry has streaming, but this is more than that. It is interaction.”

Oh yeah, who wouldn’t want to watch something as exciting as a member of the Afghan government taking questions from Billy Bob in Birmingham?
