The Group That Can't Shoot Straight
/Meredith has really become the TV group that can’t shoot straight.
They cut jobs at their stations from coast to coast in an effort to make the stations more attractive to sell. As the pandemic was hurting TV stations, Gray Television swooped in and bought up the Meredith stations.
Now just as the company is close to handing the stations over to Gray, Meredith says that revenue at its TV stations has really popped.
Meredith reported a 50% growth in non-political spot advertising and a big bump in retransmission revenues. Local media was up 22% to $204 million.
Some good numbers, too bad the company will be handing those money-making stations off to Gray soon and just keeping Meredith’s magazine business.
You know, because print is so alive and doing so well.
