Yesterday, FTVLive told you that despite the spike in COVID cases, the RTDNA was still going ahead with plans to hold its conference in late September.

While the RTNDA says all systems are a go, the Society of Professional Journalists is making a change to its September conference.

The SPY was going to have a hybrid conference next month, in which attendees could go in person to New Orleans or attend the conference online from their own homes.

With COVID spiking, the SPJ has decided that their conference will now be virtual.

Incoming SPJ President Rebecca Aguilar tells FTVLive that the board decided on the new plan yesterday. “Safety always comes first. We hope to gather in Washington DC in 2022,” Aguilar said.

Giving what is happening with the pandemic, it’s a smart move by the SPJ.
