Longtime SoFlo Reporter Jilda Unruh died suddenly after she collapsed in her Miami area home Friday morning.

Unruh worked for both WPLG and WFOR in the Miami market.

Her colleagues affectionately and respectfully called her a “pit bull in heels.” The moniker was given as Unruh stood but 5-feet tall and wore stiletto heels while her tenacity as a Investigative Reporter were unmatched.

After leaving TV news, Unruh formed her own media training and crisis communications firm and was consulting the city of Surfside in dealing with the condo collapse.

On a personal note, I worked with Jilda years ago in Tulsa, before she made the move to Miami.

Jilda Unruh was 65-years-old.
