Longtime News Director Killed by Suspected Drunk Driver

Some very sad news out of the Bay Area….

Longtime KTVU (Oakland) News Director Fred Zehnder died this week after he was hit by a suspected drunk driver while he was walking.

Zehnder was often credited with turning KTVU into a powerhouse in the Bay Area.

The station writes that Zehnder was a fixture at KTVU and gave many in front of the camera and behind the scenes their start at their dream job. The station added, “It would be hard to overstate Zehnder's impact.”

He led the station for over 2 decades before leaving.

Fred Zehnder was 87 years old.
