Scott,
In response to FOX8's Free Britney hashtagging, I've noticed that more and more of WVUE's social media posts are embracing meme culture. It seems they're trying harder and harder to be funny in order to get engagement, instead of just reporting the news, as per their job description. FOX8 is not alone in this, I've seen other top 100 and top 50 markets using this cheap tactic in order to drum up viewership. It makes me sad that more and more stations are seeing this and thinking that it's not only appropriate, but effective.
It's also worth noting that FOX8 changed the text of their post after you called them out, so clearly they knew they were in the wrong.

Yikes! Someone needs to tell Miss Reynard that 1950 called, they want their schoolmarm hairstyle and clothing back!

Scott,
WTOG, channel 44, produces a half-hour newscast Monday through Friday, that originates from WFOR in Miami. It is absolutely horrible. They have 2 green reporters that you may see during the newscasts. Other stories are piecemeal crap, stitched together from feed material or CBS network stuff.
It appears the local CBS station, WTSP, does not assist at all. (Different owners)
They even re-run this crapfest at 10:30 pm. The 10 pm version looks like it is recorded much earlier as storms on the radar are long past the Tampa Bay Area when shown on channel 44.
CBS needs to be called out for trying to pull this one over on unsuspecting viewers.
