Signing Off in Rochester

Longtime WROC (Rochester, NY) Anchor Maureen McGuire used the May book to announce that she is retiring from the station.

Not end the end of the May book mind you, not even the end of June, or July.

McGuire says that she will be signing off from the station on August 8th. Not sure why she or the station thought viewers should know this news 3 months early? But, I guess anything for ratings.

Is the idea to leave the station all McGuire’s choosing, or was she not renewed or offered a low-ball contract?

Since this is TV news, where transparency at stations bat around .170, we’ll likely never know?

According to her post, it seems she is still looking to do some work.
