Adding News in SFO

KNTV AKA NBC Bay Area says they are expanding their weeknight newscasts.

The NBC station will be adding a 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. newscasts on the station. That will move the “NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt” from 5:30 to an hour later at 6:30 PM.

The new 5:30 newscast will be anchored by Janelle Wang and Raj Mathai (pictured). Mathai will return to anchor the 7 o’clock program to be titled, “NBC Bay Area News Tonight.”

Stephanie Adrouny, vice president of news at NBC Bay Area, added: “The pandemic and rise of misinformation sparked the need to give viewers additional context and more detailed coverage of the rapidly changing story. ‘NBC Bay Area News Tonight’ will take a multi-platform approach and ask the tough questions to seek solutions for our viewers.”
