That Should Help the Old Social Media Score
/TV stations pressure their people to engage with people on social media. For some reason, the suits think if a Reporter posts a picture of them grilling hotdogs in their backyard, the news ratings will shoot through the roof.
It doesn’t happen, but it doesn’t stop the bosses from demanding that the staff be active on social media.
A few days ago, WBKO (Bowling Green) Reporter Brandon Jarrett posted a simple question to his Facebook.
The post now has over 1.3 million comments and has been shared over 25 thousand times.
Sadly, despite the massive engagement, WBKO’s news ratings did not skyrocket.
Also, Jarrett could not hold onto the magic. He later posted a video of his cat who tore through a tissue box and it only got 13 shares and just 45 comments.
Just for the record, the cat post was my favorite of the two, but neither post made me feel like I just had to tune into the WBKO newscasts.
Just saying……
