Station to Launch Good News Newscast

Years ago, stations that were struggling in the ratings decided to try a new gimmick to try and get viewers to watch the newscast.

They thought that only putting “good news” on their air, might give viewers are reason to tune in their channel.

The “family-friendly news” was tried and sadly failed by many stations hoping it would attract viewers.

Well, it seems that everything old is new again and WTMJ in Milwaukee is set to launch a new nightly newscast focusing on positive stories called 'Milwaukee Tonight.'

"Milwaukee Tonight" replaces "TMJ4 Now," and will air starting May 10th at 6:30 PM.

"Our community has been through such challenging times, and we produce plenty of other newscasts to focus on the tough stories going on around us," WTMJ News Director Tim Vetscher said in a statement. " 'Milwaukee Tonight' will celebrate the city we love."

While viewers will often say that they are sick of seeing negative stories and only want to see positive news, ratings have shown time and time again, that is not the case.

There is a reason that traffic is slow in the north-bound lane, despite the accident being in the south-bound lane.

North-bound drivers want to look at the crash.

I predict that within a year, WTMJ will retool the good news newscast.

Stay tuned…..
