When Gray Turns White
/FTVLive has been reporting on the racial issues and problems at Tegna quite a bit lately.
And while during the pandemic, we found ourselves becoming bigger fans of Gray Television, we do have an issue with their lack of diversity at the top.
FTVLive has long been pushing for more women and people of color in top roles at media companies. That means more women and POC need to be in the News Director chair, the GM’s office, and at the very top of the companies food chains.
Looking at the executive leadership at Gray Television and you see a lot of white men looking back at you.
If you go down one level to the senior leadership team, there you find a sprinkling of a few women, but once again you see a lack of people of color.
This needs to change and it is time that the broadcasting industry starts looking more like the face of America and bring more diversity to its upper ranks.
I think Gray Television can and should do better.
