Sinclair Station to Go It Alone with Late Newscast

hqdefault.jpg

For the past 8 years, Sinclair’s WUTV in Buffalo has run a 10PM newscast that was produced and hosted by Tegna’s WGRZ.

Now, it appears that WUTV wants to do their own newscast and Sinclair has a job posting for an experienced news manager.

In the posting, Sinclair says, “This is the perfect position for a person who wants to run their own news operation as a news director one day. We need a manager who doesn't follow the pack of journalist. We are looking for a person who understands we need to be distinctive, disrupting, impactful and innovative with our production.”

It is a bit confusing with the line, “ run their own news operation as a news director one day.” Does this mean you will join the station as something else, but “one day” they might finally name you the News Director?

The job listing also says, “We need a manager who doesn't follow the pack of journalist.”

Can a single “journalist” be a “pack”?

Anyway, it sounds like this is going to be a newscast done on the very cheap and likely will not be worth watching, or working at.

Just saying….
