WACH (Columbia, SC) Meteorologist Marina Neuman will be taking time out from giving the forecast to compete in the Miss South Carolina USA pageant

“I think it’s just the epitome of glamor and feminism. It was really cool to watch as a little girl, so when I got the opportunity, once I was in college, I jumped at the opportunity because you get to actually experience that for yourself, what you’ve seen on T.V., idolizing,” said Neuman.

Neuman and 28 women will compete in swimsuit and evening gown categories.

“I’m really excited about my gown. It’s probably my favorite I’ve ever worn, so I’m really excited for everyone to finally see it. I know I’ve shown all of my friends and family that will let me show it to them,” said Neuman.

Saturday morning is the interview portion. A few hours later is the big finale. The top fifteen will be announced. Then those will compete in evening gown again. Then the judges will narrow it down to the top ten who will compete in swimsuit. Then it will be down to the top five. Each will get an on-stage question.

“And it’s just one of those off the cuff questions that you have to have an answer to and I think it’s definitely the most nerve-wracking part,” said Neuman.

Whether she wins or losses she encourages others to compete.

“To absolutely just do it. Doing the things that scare you the most, that’s where you’re going to get the most growth. It still scares me sometimes going out there, but it’s an amazing and rewarding experience that I would recommend for anybody,” said Neuman.

By the way, if this story sounds familiar, she has done this before.
