Yesterday, FTVLive told you about what appears to be an exodus of Nexstar News Directors from the company.

In the past few months, at least 5 Nexstar News Directors, all holdovers from former Tribune stations have left the company in one way or another.

In our story, we said that one of the reasons is that Nexstar constantly buries their ND’s with ridiculous projects and paperwork.

We heard from a number of current or former Nexstar News Directors that wanted to react to the story.

Here are their emails:

My God yes. I was a Nexstar ND and absolutely crushed with keeping up with a thousand Nexstar pet projects and paperwork.

Those Friday reports bury half of your day. Good luck getting any help in the smaller markets.

Here are just a few of the Nexstar projects:
Women’s History program
Black History Month
The Big Game (Super Bowl)
The Big Race (Indy 500 & Daytona 500)
Hispanic Heritage
Veterans Voices

They want a special broadcast done for all of these things. Basically every other month you’ve got a project to work on. Basically need an EP just for that! Plus you’ve got to prepare for your quarterly review the regional ND and they want to know coverage plans for the next few months.

It was exhausting. Add any other extra shit a ND deals with on top of that and it’s a heart attack waiting to happen.

Email:

Here’s a great example of what you wrote about today
The ND’s have to do a staff meeting to go over the juvenile no swearing policy They have to do the same meeting four times a year.

That means schedule and gather the entire staff to go over the same information every three months. What is this, kindergarten?

We get it. Perry hates swear words. Can we go back to work now?
