Sinclair Chopped Me Off at the Knees (Update)

Sinclair pulled the pink-slip express into Columbus, Ohio and ran it over longtime WSYX Good Day Columbus Anchor Shawn Ireland.

Sources tell FTVLive that as Sinclair is crisscrossing the country laying off hundreds of people, they are escorting those people out of the building, after canning them.

Despite putting in a decade at the station, Ireland says she was walked out of the building and her items on her desk were boxed up by the station.

She posted about being whacked to her social media:

It is bad enough to being laying off hundreds of people due to the mismanagement by the company bosses, but can’t you have the decency to respect these people enough to box up their own desk and walk themselves out?

It is degrading to be escorted out the door.

When someone is fired from the station this action is understood. But, when you are letting someone go in a cost-cutting move, have enough respect to let the employee walk out on their own.

Update: A couple of people that work at WSYX claim that Ireland. was not “walked out the door.”

Although we talked to two people laid off at other Sinclair stations that claimed that is what happened to them.

Walked out, not walked out…. the bottom line is good people are being put out of work through no fault of their own.
