Will CBS Be Dunn and Unfriended on Friday?
/CBS claims that they have hired an outside firm to investigate the actions of CBS O&O President Peter Dunn and CBS VP of News David Friend.
The consensus among the O&O’s is that neither will be returning to CBS and the company will be moving on.
Some think CBS could make the move on Friday, which seems like a good time. They could do the Friday night news dump, just days before the Super Bowl and the story would likely die out do to the game.
“They need to move fast and not leave us in limbo,” said one CBS O&O manager to FTVLive.
While many managers tell FTVLive that the change needs to be made and some point that it isn’t just Dunn and Friend that need to go. “If you are going to cut out a cancer, you need to get the entire cancer,” said a O&O boss.
Dunn and Friend still have some GM’s at the O&O that are in their camp. Word is that KCBS General Manager Jay Howell is trying to find who is leaking information to FTVLive and other media outlets like the LA Times.
But, speaking to a number of managers at the O&O’s and they say it is time to UnFriaen David and be Dunn with Peter.
One insider emailed FTVLive and had this to say about the situation at CBS Television Stations:
Thank you Scott for keeping the Peter Dunn, David Friend story ALIVE. This is just the tip of the iceberg.
There will be more stories coming your way from many who have had to deal with the horrors of their reign.
Firstly the bullying of talent and lack of raises didn't stop with Dunn/Friend. For years it would also trickle down to
General Managers who would parrot Dunn/Friend's narrative of "if you don't like it, there's the door."
Imagine saying that to some of your most loyal employees. Sadly many GM's never spoke out and say it just isn't right.
So I won't be surprised when their names get thrown into this decades old just unfolding story
Also after talking to several co-workers, and reading your recent post, it's clear agents were also scared of losing future business and also being bullied. Many have already said they would be blackballed from their clients being considered for future job openings if there was any pushback. So basically agents stopped fighting for their clients as well. The "insurance policy" of having an agent was no longer needed when negotiations were totally off the table.
What these two men were doing was dismantling the news business for their own evil, self-centered, narcissistic ways. When it doubt look towards the top and there's your answer.
Glad to see just like others before them, people stopped taking their shit before it was too late. The damage they've done is enough already.
So, does CBS do the Friday night news dump, or are they going to continue to drag on with what everyone knows is going to happen?
Stay tuned…..
