Hanging it Up in Houston

After 4+ decades on the job, longtime Houston Reporter Phil Archer is ready to hang it up.

The Feb book ends on March 3rd and Archer says that March 4th will be his last day.

"I’ve been fortunate enough to make my career in Houston, which is one of the best news towns in the country," Archer says in his station bio. "I’ve worked with some of the most talented journalists in the business; folks who pursued the craft with honesty, accuracy, and passion. It is more than a job – it’s a calling."

"Phil’s the guy you send when your own reputation is on the line," former NBC News Bureau Chief and KPRC reporter Larry Weidman told mikemcguff.com. "He always delivers and he has for nearly half a century.

Archer has worked at the Graham station for 44 years and while his social media is full of pictures from stories he was covering, you will find it hard to spot a selfie of Archer.

How refreshing is that?
