New ND Named in Baton Rouge

WBRZ (Baton Rouge) announced that they are bumping up the Deuce to the main gig.

Assistant News Director Trey Schmaltz is getting the News Director job after WBRZ ND Lee Polowczuk announced that he was retiring.

Both men had been at the station for the past 5 + years.

It’s not often you hear of a News Director “retiring”, more often than not the retirement is more of a forced thing and a voluntary move.

Congrats to Lee Polowczuk for getting to leave on his terms.

The sad thing about this is the fact that Polowczuk is retiring, which mainly means he’s getting old. Normally, I wouldn’t care if the ND is getting old, but years ago when I was running a news department in West Palm Beach, Lee Polowczuk was running the news department across the street.

Logic would dictate that if Lee Polowczuk is old, that means I must be old as well.
