Dave Hughes ran the website DCRTV that covered media in the DC area.

His website posted emails from people commenting about the local media scene. One DC TV station General Manager would often write Hughes anonymous emails that would even go so far as to “attack” his own employees.

At one point, Hughes’ website was a must-read for anyone working in DC media, but it slipped off over the past few years after Hughes moved to North Carolina.

Still, he was one of the first media bloggers, starting around the same time as FTVLive.

Hughes loved wearing camo and even had a YouTube channel called “Camo Dave” where he would post videos about the media and what was happening in his life.

Hughes and I would email from time to time and share some information, but I don’t remember ever talking to him on the phone.

The guy was a bit strange for sure, but he seemed like a good guy and someone that while never working in TV news, really seemed to love it.

Sadly, Dave Hughes suffered a heart attack and died this week.
