Chris Wallace Jumps to CNN
/After nearly two decades at Fox News, Chris Wallace announced that he is jumping to CNN.
Wallace is seen by many as the only “real” Journalist at Fox News and now he’s leaving.
Some Fox News viewers looked at Wallace as another liberal and are happy to see him go.
Wallace surprised many viewers tuned into his “Fox News Sunday” show when he announced that he was leaving the conservative network.
“It is the last time, and I say this with real sadness, we will meet like this,” Wallace said, “Eighteen years ago, the bosses here at Fox promised me they would never interfere with a guest I booked or a question I asked. And they kept that promise.”
Just a short time later, the left-leaning CNN announced that he was joining the cable net.
Wallace often clashed with the opinion host at Fox News and the AP writes that he had grown privately frustrated with the overall tenor at Fox, where conservative opinion hosts have been elevated and amplified, particularly after the network’s ratings took a brief hit following the 2020 election. The network ousted two news executives involved in the controversial — but correct — Election Night declaration that Biden had won in Arizona, a call that infuriated Republican Trump.
In jumping to CNN, Wallace said, “I look forward to the new freedom and flexibility streaming affords in interviewing major figures across the news landscape — and finding new ways to tell stories.”
CNN said more details about Wallace’s new role will be forthcoming. He’s the biggest name among the hires at CNN+, which has also brought on former NBC News anchor Kasie Hunt and business journalist Scott Galloway.
Fox News released a statement saying, “We are extremely proud of our journalism and the stellar team that Chris Wallace was a part of for 18 years. The legacy of FOX News Sunday will continue with our star journalists, many of whom will rotate in the position until a permanent host is named.”
