All –
I am thrilled to be sharing news of a key hire with you today. Kevin Lightfoot has been named Assistant News Director of CBS2, WLNY 10/55, CBSN New York and CBSNewYork.com.
Kevin was born in New York City and raised in New Jersey. He comes to us with nearly 20 years of experience as a journalist and newsroom leader. He most recently was an executive producer at KTRK, the ABC station in Houston, where he led several top-rated newscasts over the last four-plus years. He has also worked as an executive producer at WESH in Orlando and WAPT in Jackson, Mississippi.
Over the course of his career, Kevin has helped guide the coverage of several major news events, including Hurricanes Katrina and Harvey. He won an Emmy for producing hurricane specials while in Orlando.
Kevin has long been an active member of the National Association of Black Journalists. While at Hampton University, where he graduated with honors from the Scripps-Howard School of Journalism, Kevin was an executive board member of the school’s NABJ chapter. Since then, he has served as President of the Jackson, Mississippi chapter of NABJ, and most recently has served as Vice President of the Houston chapter. Kevin has produced NABJ’s Salute to Excellence Awards show for three years.
I know you will find Kevin to be a collaborative news leader. His leadership style, combined with his deep knowledge of the Tri-State Area, and his desire to innovate make Kevin a great fit for our team.
Speaking of teams, Kevin is a fan of the Giants and Yankees and is excited to be coming home to New York.
Kevin is also the proud father of two sons, ages 13 and 19.
I look forward to introducing you to Kevin during a 1:30 p.m. meeting on Zoom tomorrow. Kevin’s first official day with us is today!
Sarah Burke
