Staffers Question Reporter's Story

Yesterday, FTVLive told you how Nexstar’s KTSM (El Paso) recently hired former America’s Voice anchor Christina Aguayo.

Aguayo did a 5 minute plus package on Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.

Many thought the story was more like a 5-minute campaign ad and not a news story.

Aguayo did not question or include any information on the FBI, or the Texas State Bar investigations into his actions.

In her story, Aguayo said, “Even if it sounds easy being the Attorney General of Texas, this FAMILY MAN…..”

According to the Dallas News, Paxton is under investigation after “Four former high ranking agency officials are accusing Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton of swapping political favors for a donor’s help with a home remodel and a job for his alleged ‘mistress.’”

Not sure how many “family” men have an “alleged ‘mistress.”

Sources now tell FTVLive that nearly half a dozen news staffers approached KTSM GM David Candelaria to voice their concerns about the story.

Sources tell FTVLive that Candelaria told one female employee that voiced her concern, that she was being catty about it, and told her she needed to stop being jealous she got the exclusive.

One station insider says that if this continues, they should change the call letters to KQSM.
