Reporting vs. Repeating
/Last week, FTVLive told you how a new study showed that just 7% of of adults in this country have “a great deal” of trust in the media.
We pointed out that the reason for such a low number can be directed at just one place.
Cable News.
We feel that cable news has done more to divide this country than anything else.
Ask yourself, do you think there would be less hate and division if Fox News, CNN and MSNBC never existed?
CNN media critic Brian Stelter tried to explain why people no longer trust the media and of course he points to Fox News.
He says there needs to be more reporting and less repeating, which was a statement that he REPEATED over and over again.
He said “If there's a solution to this — and I don't know if there is” it is about reporting and not repeating.
I would argue that the solution to getting people to start trusting the media again, would be to get rid of the cable news channels.
I assure you, that 7% figure would rise dramatically if just that one action was taken.
Here is Stelter’s take on the issue in which he ironically keeps repeating the same line about repeating.
Some people can’t see the forest through the trees.
CNN's @brianstelter on how to restore trust in the mass media: "If there's a solution to this — and I don't know if there is, because we live in one America and two media worlds. But if there is a solution, it's through reporting, it's through reporting, not repeating." pic.twitter.com/H35re8uVZb
