It's Time for Fox News to Reflect on Itself

I have said it a number of times and for years here on FTVLive…

Cable news has done as much to divide this country as has Donald Trump, Democrats, and Republicans.

CNN and MSNBC continue their attacks on the right, while Fox News slams the left. But, neither CNN, nor MSNBC has the viewers or the hardcore followers that Fox News does.

Yesterday, Donald Trump started a fire in Washington, DC, and Fox News handed him the gas to do It.

What happened yesterday was one of the saddest days in American history as Trump supporters took over the U.S. Capitol.

It all came to a head yesterday in an attempted coup attempt, but it was setup by weeks of people like Laura Ingraham, Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity, Lou Dobbs, Maria Bartiromo, and others at Fox News. While there was no evidence of widespread voter fraud and many Republicans and Democrats admitting that the election was fair and honest, many Fox News host from morning to night continued to claim that the election was stolen from Donald Trump.

Trump made the claims over and over again and then the Fox News hosts enabled him and amplified the message. They poured the gas on a smoldering fire.

As the Capitol was taken over and people were killed, insiders tell FTVLive that management at Fox News told staffers to condemn what was happening. Sources say that Fox News hosts and employees were urged to go on Twitter and denounce what was happening.

Sort of like trying to put the toothpaste back in the tube.

As the Trump faithful took over the Capitol, Fox News host Laura Ingraham posted this to Twitter.

But, just hours before she was on Fox News saying this.

Ingraham continued to poor gas on the embers and in an effort to get it to flame up. She attacked the media for doing their job and claimed they were part of a cover up.

Yesterday, Trump protestors attacked the media and destroyed their equipment.

In the past, I have covered the riots in LA and in Miami, while it was certainly not the safest place to be, for the most part I could move around, between the rioters and police and do my job.

For the past 4 years, Donald Trump has called the media the “enemy of the people” and Fox News hosts like Sean Hannity has echoed that message time and time again.

Yesterday, in one of the darkest days in American history, the media was under attack.

Time to pour on some more gas.

When I reached out to Fox News to ask if the network felt any responsibility for what was happening in DC, it was just a back and forth of passing the buck.

Fox News Anchor Martha MacCallum called it a "huge victory for these protesters" as they made their way inside the Capitol.

“Victory”?

It is a dark stain on American history, there is no “victory” in that.

At some point, Fox News needs to reflect on what happened? They need to understand that the Country means more than Nielsen ratings. Spewing hate should not be a business model.

I don’t know how Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott could put her head on the pillow last night and thought anything other than “we helped make today happen.”

Before the Trump supporters descended in DC, Fox News covered up their logo at their Washington bureau. Now, they are trying to cover up their role in this blackeye for this nation.

It is time that cable news reflects on exactly what they are doing to our country?

Yesterday, the United States of America become a world embarrassment.

Lastly, this tweet by Fox News’s Tomi Lahern from just before the election did not age very well at all.
