So, how did Sinclair’s show get thousands of more followers in a week than Nexstar has gotten 5 months?

Well, it is a bit deceiving, Nexstar launched the News Nation account a year ago. Sinclair’s TND account was created 10 years ago.

TND was used for other purposes in the Sinclair ecosystem long before the morning newscast.

Also, unless your entire goal is to bring in Twitter followers, it means nothing.

A company should spend the time and effort to bring people to their website, that they own and not some social media site that they have no control over.

FTVLive has never worried about our social media, we haven’t posted anything to our Facebook or Instagram in ages and we basically use Twitter as only a pointer for links to stories.

Imagine if Donald Trump would have posted all of his ramblings and attacks on a website that he owned. Then when Twitter pulled the plug on him, it would not have had the impact it had on him.

Social media is a great tool for people, but for TV stations and companies with websites, social media should not be your focus. Your site should be.
