It is nice when someone steps up and tries to give Journalists a pat on the back when it is well deserved.
The New York Times writes that Representative Cheri Bustos of Illinois on Tuesday introduced a resolution that would acknowledge the journalists who covered the Capitol rampage on Jan. 6 even as Trump supporters, provoked by verbal attacks on the press lodged by the president himself, threatened and assaulted them.
Bustos was a journalist for nearly two decades and worked as a reporter at The Quad-City Times of Illinois and Iowa.
A spokeswoman for Bustos said Tuesday afternoon that the resolution had 42 co-sponsors. It says that supporters of President Trump “surrounded, threatened and struck journalists, destroying equipment and forcing personnel to flee for fear of their safety,” and that “despite the overwhelming threats to their lives, journalists bravely continued to report.”
