It Ends Today....
/The attacks on the media will not end today….
News crews will continue to be verbally assaulted and likely and sadly physically assaulted.
But, starting at Noon today, the media will no longer be called the “enemy of the people” by the President of the United States.
While Trump has been impeached for his role in stirring up those that rioted in the U.S. Capitol, he has never had to answer for the attacks, spurred on by him to the media.
Stations across the country have had to take the logos off their news cars, canceled live shots, and sent security guards out with their crews.
This did not happen in past presidencies, but it has become the norm under Donald Trump.
Most In the media are trying to do their job, tell the story, while not being paid very well in the process.
Trump’s continued attacks will likely impact this industry for years to come.
Do you think many younger people are itching to become Journalists right now after seeing what the media has endured.
It will get to the point that the only people you see on TV are those that “want to be on TV.” There is more than enough of that now, but there really are still some real Journalists out there. There are people that could not care less about the selfies, or showing off their outfits, or pimping some product.
They are there to inform, to educate, to keep the “freedom of the press” alive and well.
But, for how long?
Donald Trump made the media a target.
How many young people want to grow up, make little money, and walk around with a target on their back, just to tell a story?
A lot of us got into Journalism for all the right reasons. It wasn’t about “being on TV”, and it surely wasn’t about the money.
We felt a calling to Journalism and a passion and we pursued it with all our heart.
At Noon Today, the attacks on our industry from the President will end.
I’m thankful that is the case…..
