Nice Gesture

KOHD (Bend. OR) Anchor Allen Schauffler is happy to still have a job. Millions of people have lost their jobs during the pandemic and that fact was not lost on Schauffler.

After the Anchorman got his stimulus check, he went to see KOHD News Director Matt McDonald and GM Shawn Wilcox about donating his stimulus check.

Wilcox went to parent company Zolo Media about Schauffler’s offer and the company also decided to help out, offering to match those that wanted to donate their check, up to $10,000 dollars.

The station launched the campaign they are dubbing “ReDirect the Check.” Any employees that want to donate their check, the company will match.

“I have been really clear with our staff members (many who need their stimulus checks) -- none of them are expected to donate, said McDonald to FTVLive, adding, “Everyone's financial position is different and as grateful as I am for Allen's generosity, I have worked really hard to make sure no one feels any pressure to contribute.”

It is nice that Schauffler sees the big picture and that his company stepped up as well.

Job well done.
