Sources at Nexstar’s WOWK (Charleston, WV) say that the main evening and night Anchor Jennifer Abney told management that she was not renewing her contract and was moving on.

Okay… that happens, especially in a small market, but here’s where it gets a bit odd.

A source inside the station tells FTVLive that WOWK General Manager Sean Banks sent out a station-wide email announcing the new evening anchor before he ever (still hasn’t) announced that Abney was leaving.

FTVLive obtained a copy of the internal memo that says that the morning Anchor is being bumped up the food chain.

Is Banks really that bitter that Abney is leaving that he couldn’t mention that in the memo?

It might come to him as a surprise, but not everyone wants to finish out their career in Charleston, West Virginia.

Abney has not said where she is headed next, but since the boss won’t wish her goodbye and good luck, we will.
