While FTVLive has been telling you how many of the Meredith cuts involved high-profile women, the company did let go on an old White guy.

WSMV (Nashville) Anchor Alan Frio has been in this business forever and has spent the past 16 years at the Music City station.

Frio says that Meredith whacked him in a brief phone call. "I found out in a brief phone call on my day off that I was no longer at Channel 4," Frio said in a text message sent to the Tennessean.

"I felt I was making a worthwhile contribution as weekend managing editor, anchor, and weekday reporter," he wrote. "I saved the company money by anchoring all of the weekend newscasts for three years.

"I regret I didn't have a chance to say goodbye to the people I have enjoyed working with."

A Meredith spokesperson said that Frio was fired over the phone because, instead of calling him into the station on his day off because the station is "limiting the number of people in our building at one time" due to COVID-19 safety concerns.

You put in decades into this business and almost two decades at the station and you are fired over the phone.

Frio once co-hosted for nationally syndicated show Hard Copy.
