Wrapping It Up in Albany

After more than a decade in local television news, Solomon Syed is leaving Spectrum News Albany and will be signing off tomorrow.

#BREAKING personal news: after ten-and-a-half years, I will be signing off from @spectrumnewsalbany @spectrumnewshv @spectrumnewscny on September 3rd. To say I've packed a lifetime's worth of memories into the last decade-plus would be an understatement. From the Dannemora Prison Break (fun fact: Richard Matt and David Sweat broke out on my birthday) to the @finalfour in Houston and now a global pandemic, I've had the opportunity to report on some of the biggest stories in our area, the country and the world. For me though, it's always been about more than the story. I have been blessed beyond measure through the relationships I've built with countless colleagues, friendly rivals, even some of my interview subjects 😉 and of course most importantly, the viewers. Never could I have imagined when I went to law school that in a few short years I'd end up a television news anchor, much less get a chance to do what most broadcast journalists only dream of: be the face of their hometown evening newscast for almost eight years. Jobs may change, but the place you all hold in my heart never will. As for where you’ll be seeing me next? You know what they say: stay tuned. 💙
