EXCLUSIVE! Do Not Share!

Yesterday, FTVLive FIRST told you that Nexstar was going to holdback video from CNN and others until their own News Nation got to use it first.

In yesterday’s story, FTVLive wrote:

A source tells FTVLive that the Nexstar stations have been told that breaking news video goes to News Nation first and is not to be shared with the cable news nets until after seen on News Nation.

Well, now it is written policy at Nexstar and FTVLive has obtained a copy. The new policy started yesterday to coincide with News Nation’s launch.

It appears Nexstar is looking to keep all video within the company to limit the networks from having access until 24hrs later after it has already aired. 

Not sure where this is headed, but I’m sure this could make for very interesting negotiations when it comes to the renewal and renegotiation of network affiliation contracts with Nexstar stations in the near future.
