Meredith Cuts: Atlanta
/Meredith pulled the pink slip express into their troubled station in Atlanta.
By the time the express pulled out of the WGCL parking lot, two special projects producers were gone, at least three Photographers, a morning director/PA, and others.
WGCL is already bare-bones.
Look at the Meredith job website: excluding sales and master control jobs, WGCL has openings for an assistant news director, an executive producer, two producers, and three on-air reporters. Those were positions the new ND, Matt King, cut after he showed up.
“Most of the people who left WGCL after his arrival are people he fired; the exception is a producer who got fed up and quit,” said a station insider to FTVLive. “Good luck trying to find anyone willing to fill those jobs. WGCL’s reputation isn’t helping. Neither are Georgia’s COVID-19 numbers,” the insider added.
The insider finished off by saying, “A lot of good people there lost their jobs today. I feel for the remaining people who now have even more work to do.”
