Former Weatherman Found Guilty
/Back in April, FTVLive told you that the former Chief Meteorologist at KPTM was arrested for sending threatening emails to the director of Douglas County Health Department over her handling of the coronavirus outbreak.
Cops say that Ronald Penzkowski, who went by the name Ron Gerard on-air sent emails like this one to Dr. Adi Pour that claimed he was going to slit his throat.
Penzkowski pleaded no contest on two counts of third-degree assault and was found guilty. He was originally charged with terroristic threats.
KETV reports that officials said in April that the Douglas County sheriff learned that Pour had been receiving threatening emails and calls. The sender threatened to "lynch" her and "slice her throat."
Pour received 15 messages from March 25th to March 31st. The emails focused on her actions as health director regarding COVID-19. The sender had tried to disguise the origin of the emails and created new email addresses each time one was blocked.
"The suspect went above and beyond that and created emails to go and continue so that it was not an isolated incident," said Lt. William Rinn.
Investigators tracked the emails to Penzkowski. Investigators used a search warrant at Penzkowski's home and say they found more evidence to support that Penzkowski was sending the messages.
Penzkowski will be sentenced on October 27.
