NBC Whacks People Off The Payroll

Yesterday, FTVLive FIRST told you that NBC was once again swinging the ax at their properties.

At NBC Sports Boston nearly 20 on-air and behind-the-scenes staffers were laid off Monday and Tuesday, including longtime anchor Gary Tanguay, Celtics sideline reporter Abby Chin, and Celtics reporter A. Sherrod Blakely.

NBC also cut staff in Chicago, Washington, Philadelphia, and San Francisco this week.

It appears that about 4 or 5 staffers at NBC’s O&O in Boston were let go. We hear about the same number at WMAQ in Chicago.

At NBC’s WTVJ (Miami) sources say that at least 4 people in the newsroom were exited, including an Executive Producer.

Out at NBC’s KNTV (San Jose/ San Francisco), sources say that least three photogs and a Special Projects Producer were kicked to the curb.

We are also hearing of cuts in Texas at KXAS and at KNBC in LA.

The cuts have gone down on both Monday and Tuesday. No word if the Peacock is done clipping people.
