Chuck Todd Gets Demoted
/When Tim Russert passed away suddenly, NBC was caught flat footed and really didn’t have a plan.
So, the network bumped up David Gregory who was awful. So then they moved to Chuck Todd to Russert’s role.
Russert was so good at what he did, no matter who replaced him, it was a good bet that they would not even come close to filling the shoes of the legendary Meet the Press host.
The expectations of Chuck Todd were low and many would say he didn’t even reach the low bar.
But, NBC has stuck with Todd and it seemed that while he wasn’t bringing much to the network, he continued to be touted as a star.
Well, it appears Todd’s star is finally falling at the Peacock.
Yesterday, MSNBC announced that they were demoting Chuck Todd, of course they didn’t use those words and replacing his time slot on the cable net with Nicole Wallace.
Todd is bumped back to 1PM and will be given a role on MSNBC’s digital platform.
Moving Wallace up and giving her two straight hours starting at 4PM is a big promotion. It also shows that MSNBC thinks that opinion, which Wallace does, is more important than news. Or, at least it will rate higher.
If you watch cable news at all, you are finding it harder and harder to find real news and much more easy to find opinion.
MSNBC is just going more the way of CNN and Fox News.
As for Chuck Todd, it appears his star has finally started its descent at NBC.
Some would say It’s about time.
note: this story was updated to add David Gregory’s role after Russert.
