CNBC sent out a press release yesterday announcing that former Fox News host Shepard Smith’s new show on CNBC will launch on September 30th.

“In my more than 30 years in journalism, there has never been a better or more critical time to launch a non-partisan, fact-based evening newscast,” said Shepard Smith. “From the ongoing pandemic to the election and the economy, the mission of this program is to cover the most important news of the day with depth and clarity. Each night, we will be bold, we will be direct and we will deliver the truth to our viewers.”

What was also interesting in the release was information that former KHOU (Houston) News Director Sally Ramirez will be the Executive Producer of the show.

Ramirez has been working at the Tegna station as the ND and also employed her Husband Russ Lewis as an Anchor who announced at the same time as Ramirez that he was retiring.

In telling the staff that Lewis was leaving the station, KHOU General Manager Robert Springer wrote:

Russ’ next move will take him back to Oregon to expand his role in the family business, developing property with his Dad.

With Lewis on the West Coast and Ramirez on the East coast in the midst of a pandemic, it will make for an interesting time.
