The Story that Set Off the President
/By now, it’s a good bet that you heard how Donald Trump called for a boycott of Goodyear Tires.
It started with a story done by WIBW (Topeka) in which the station used a picture from a PowerPoint presentation.
It should be pointed out that this slide was created by one employee and was not approved by Goodyear corporate. But the story spread fast and Trump picked up on it and slammed the company.
WIBW edited their original story posted on their website and also added a link that reads "UPDATE: The company CEO has released a statement saying they have revised some of their policies.
But, if you click the link and read that story, you find that Goodyear did NOT revise its policies. “The station is straight-up lying to cover its ass,” said a station insider to FTVLive.
In other words, this was the action of one Goodyear employee and clearly it was still a story, but it surely needed more context.
Maybe then President Trump would haven’t had to take time out from t̶r̶y̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶c̶o̶n̶t̶r̶o̶l̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶c̶o̶r̶o̶n̶a̶v̶i̶r̶u̶s̶ the back nine to go off on an American company and call for people to buy their ties elsewhere.
Just saying….
