Laid Off Anchor might Have Found a New Career

Ron Pivo has spent the past 6 years working as a freelance Sports Anchor at KNBC (LA) when he was told a few weeks ago that his position was being eliminated.

“Because this was the second time this has happened to me, unfortunately, I know the feeling and wasn't going to let it get me down, “Pivo told FTVLive.

He then shared this story and we thought we would share it with you.

“A couple of weeks ago my 17-year-old daughter and I were sitting around the table talking about someone we knew and she uttered the phrase "only when she drinks." I thought it was a great title for a song.

Besides knowing virtually every pop song word for word from the early 70s I have no musical acumen. But I hopped on the computer that night and wrote the lines, "only when she drinks, only when cries, only then does she look into my eyes."

I texted those lines to my 17-year-old daughter upstairs (because after all, that's how parents pretty much communicate with their kids these days).

A few minutes later she sends me a verse. Not to be outdone, I write two more verses, ran upstairs, we looked at each other with big smiles and I said, "I think we just wrote a song."

We hugged and I wished her goodnight. That should be the end of the story, but it's not. After thinking about this for a few days, and not wanting this memory to fade I found a singer in Nashville (Steve Means) who put the lyrics to music and made a song out of it.

My daughter had no idea I did this. I took her out to her car (because Tom Petty always said he would listen to his music in his car first) and surprised her the other night with "our song".

This was her reaction.”

Maybe Ron has found his life after TV news….

Have a great weekend everyone!
