Stefan Holt, the son of NBC Nightly News Anchor Lester Holt is returning back to WMAQ, the NBC O&O in Chicago.

Holt left WMAQ back in 2016 to head to WNBC in New York, working in the same building as his dad.

Now, in October, he comes back to the Windy City to anchor the station’s 4PM and 10PM newscasts.

“These moves allow us to welcome back a very talented anchor and boost our investigative team with a skilled investigative journalist at a time when investigative journalism is needed now more than ever,” said Frank Whittaker, Station Manager and VP of News.

With Holt coming in that means that current late news Anchor Rob Stafford will be taken off the 10PM show and will only do the 5 and 6PM newscast.

Current 4PM Anchor Patrick Fazio gets knocked down the food chain to anchor the little watched 11AM and then report for the later shows.

Holt leaves New York saying, “I will be forever grateful for my time in New York. Anchoring alongside some of the best in our industry and during one of the most tumultuous times in our history has been a privilege, and a highlight of my career. Thank you to all of my friends at WNBC and our Tri-State area viewers for your support and trust over the past few years.”
