A year ago, FTVLive told you that sad news that WVUE (New Orleans) Anchor Nancy Parker was killed while shooting a story with a stunt pilot.

Now, Parker’s husband is suing the Federal Aviation Administration for nearly $23 million over what he says is its negligent role in her death.

USA Today reports that the lawsuit claims that prior to the accident, takeoff had been delayed for several hours due to problems with the aircraft’s engine. Still, the lawsuit alleges, FAA officials cleared it to fly without taking the appropriate steps to ensure it was airworthy.

The FAA, it says, had a duty to "properly supervise and actively monitor airport regulations" and "to ensure that aircraft was maintained in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations and safe aviation standards and procedures." Accordingly, it should have prohibited it from flying and informed Parker of the risks.

The suit also claims they were aware of the 14-gallon auxiliary fuel tank installed under the passenger seat.
