Who Saw That Coming?
/A week ago, FTVLive told you that Joy Reid’s new show, “The Reid Out” on MSNBC started off with a bang.
The network said that Reid’s debut show was tops in total viewers and was the 2nd highest-rating ever for a regularly scheduled show at 7 p.m. ET in MSNBC history.
We then asked, “Does the show have staying power?”
The short answer is, no.
As the days went on, Reid’s show started coming back to earth.
According to Nielsen, the program saw double-digit declines in both total viewers (down 32%) and the key A25-54 demographic (down 11%) from launch day (Monday 7/20).
It’s not a flop by any stretch, but there is a reason that networks should not be so fast to crow about debut ratings.
Just saying….
