Last week it was announced that WPIX in New York is being sold again to Nexstar’s arm, Mission Broadcasting.

What is interesting as the deal was being announced, WPIX was also blowing up their morning newscast.

On Monday of this week, John Muller and Vanessa Freeman started anchoring PIX11 Morning News from 4:30 -7am.

It appears that Kala Rama and Craig Treadway (pictured top) who have been doing the newscasts have been replaced.

As one TV newsie said, “Kala & Craig fit their audience perfectly.”

But now it appears they have been changed out.

Did Scripps (who owns the station) make this decision? Or did Mission (Nexstar) make that call? Is this strictly a cost-cutting move?

The timing seems odd for Scripps to do this on their own.

Inquiring minds want to know…
