Making Changes in Denver

I have always said that a good Reporter can find a story anywhere and KCNC (Denver) Reporter Tori Mason is a perfect example of that.

Mason had to renew the tags on her car and went online to do so. But, since she had changed her address, she was told that you have to do that in person at the DMV office.

The problem, the DMV was closed for 3 months due to COVID-19 and that means Mason had racked up 3 months of late fees.

Mason was frustrated, but she also saw a news story and not to make this all about her, she found someone else that had had the very same issue:

After Mason’s story aired, the DMV made changes on their website and now everyone that was charged late fees due to no fault of their own, can request a refund:

In other words, Tori Mason got a policy changed and money back into the pockets of viewers. She also joked that maybe her was her being cheap that helped lead to this story:

Bottom line, Tori Mason took a simple event as renewing her tags, turned it into a story, and got money refunded to viewers.

That is the sign of a great Reporter.

Good Job Tori!
