Yesterday, FTVLive told you that longtime KCBS Political Reporter Dave Lopez was leaving the CBS O&O.

A staffer at KCBS sent along an email to explain just how big of a loss this is and that is today’s email in our Inbox:

Losing Dave Lopez is a huge blow to the entire CBS2 newsroom, especially after the recent layoffs.  The layoffs have left the on-air staff very bare boned and on thin ice.  And at least 3 or four anchors, I have been told,  are working without a contract.  And most of the reporters are freelancers.  Now Randy...  not sure how they are expecting to get thru the elections.

Dave was our canary in the coal mine.  As long as he was here things were okay, guess not.
