Sinclair To Launch Headline News Service

Is this the start of Sinclair trying to be the next Fox News?

Insiders say suits at Sinclair have long dreamed about their company becoming the next Fox News. Now, they might be making a step in that direction.

Sinclair announced that they will be hiring 25 new positions for a new headline news service, which they plan on launching in early 2021.

The company says that in the first phase of the launch, the news service will air from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. on weekdays across the TV station services provider's CW and MY network affiliates and its STIRR streaming platform.

The service will have a solo anchor, and will focus on commentary-free content, and will also offer original content produced for the program. Among the positions it will be hiring for are anchors, producers, reporters, editors, photographers and directors.

Putting this service on little watched channels will take a lot of effort to get viewers to tune in. I hope Sinclair has set aside millions of dollars in their promotion budget to get viewers even to find this new service.

At this point, I don’t think Fox News, or anyone else for that matter, has much to worry about.
