It’s not like it was unexpected, but Cox Media Group CEO/President Kim Guthrie is leaving the company after more than two decades.

Cox was bought out by Apollo and many were surprised that Guthrie was staying on after Apollo took over.

Apollo has already started making cuts at the company and it was believed that Guthrie would soon be leaving.

“We have built a strong foundation for future growth, including an exceptional senior management team, a successful carveout from Cox Enterprises, and deep, long-term relationships with our communities, customers and partners. I have full confidence in this great team at CMG and I look forward to watching CMG’s future achievements,” Guthrie said in a press release.

Steve Pruett, Executive Chairman of Cox Media Group, will serve as the Interim Chief Executive Officer until a permanent Chief Executive Officer is appointed soon.
