100% Inaccurate... Hmmmm?
/Yesterday, FTVLive reported that Morning Anchor Nate Stewart was leaving WFRV in Green Bay after nearly 5 years. His last day is Friday.
A station source told FTVLive that Stewart was headed to Boston and we reported that is what a source said. We never said which station, just that he was headed to Boston.
Stewart emailed FTVLive and said that he was not going to Boston and that part of the story was not correct. FTVLive hates making mistakes, but on the off chance we do, we try to correct them as quickly as possible.
Stewart emailed FTVLive and within 12 minutes the story was corrected and we made note of the mistake. Some sites change the story and act as if it never happened. We try to let you know we made a change.
Stewart not only emailed us, he decided to call out FTVLive on social media and posted this:
Look, we made a mistake and you called us out for it. That’s cool, I screwed up and fair is fair. Call me out.
But, if you’re going to talk about “proper journalism,” you might want to practice this as well.
You claimed that the story was “100% inaccurate.” So let’s take a look at that.
We reported your name was Nate Stewart. That is 100% accurate.
We said that you were working at WFRV. That is 100% accurate.
We said the station was located In Green Bay. That is 100% accurate.
We said you worked there for nearly 5 years. That is 100% accurate.
We said you were the morning Anchor. That is 100% accurate.
We said your last day was Friday. That is 100% accurate.
We said that a source told us you were headed to Boston. It is accurate that the source told us that, it was not accurate that was where you were going.
So, looking at that, would you really say that this story was 100% Inaccurate?
Call me out for the mistake, I owned and corrected it. But please don’t call me out for not doing “proper journalism” when you clearly missed on the facts.
Wherever you are headed, I want to wish you the very best. Hopefully, if it is still a job in Journalism, you will do great and never make a mistake 100% of the time.
Sadly as much as I hate doing it, I do make a mistake here and there and I’m just not as perfect as you are. But, I promise to keep trying.
Good luck in your future endeavors Nate!
Let’s hope you can “feel” yourself each and every day:
I’ll leave you with Nate’s look at me video. I remember when Cronkite used to do these. So funny….
