Not One, or Two, or Three, But FOUR gone in Atlanta

It appears that Meredith is cutting back the payroll at WGCL in Atlanta.

A memo went out yesterday to the staff, telling them that 4 of their co-workers are leaving the station. Three on-air people and EP are all gone.

The station is not saying why 4 people are leaving in one day, but one insider speculates that management used the “cycle clause” in the Meredith contracts.

Also, how lame is it to have the HR Director issue the memo and not have something come from the News Director?

Also, according to Meredith’s CEO Tom Harty, the company is under a hiring freeze, so don’t look for the 3 on-air positions or the EP job to be filled anytime soon.
