A year ago, FTVLive told you that longtime Salt Lake City Reporter Dan Rascon was fleeing the sinking Sinclair station KUTV and headed across the street to KSL.

Now, Rascon is getting a bump up the food chain at KSL.

Starting this weekend, Rascon is the station’s new Weekend Anchor. He takes over for taking over for Keith McCord who retired on Sunday after an incredible 39 years in news.

“I feel humbled and honored to be joining the weekend news team and sitting in the seat of a man who is leaving an amazing legacy at KSL. McCord taught us much about the integrity and good that journalism can bring to an ever-changing world,” said Rascon.

“I’ve known Dan for 20-plus years. It’s been a blast to work alongside him,” said McCord on Sunday night as he handed over the anchor baton to Rascon. “I’m glad you are in the building and taking over. You’ll have a blast. I’m glad you’re the guy.”
